A Golden European Season

Battocletti's record continues an exceptional season for the Italian athlete. Earlier in August, she completed a rare middle-distance double at the European Championships in Birmingham. She successfully defended her 5000m title. Just three days later, she won the 10,000m. This achievement made her the first athlete to win that specific combination at back-to-back European Championships. Battocletti now holds six European titles across track, road, and cross country. Her breakthrough year started in March. She became the first Italian woman to win a world indoor gold medal, taking the 3000m title. Just last weekend, she secured her first Diamond League victory. She won the 5000m in Silesia, holding off Ethiopian world leader Likina Amebaw with a time of 14:54.09.
